A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life and led to the world of stand-up. A self-confessed pessimist, Mike describes himself as “not a natural choice for a career in laughter”. He has a rare ability to walk close to the line of what audiences find acceptable and yet still remain likeable and funny.

It’s all about the laughs at Getaway Comedy. Expect a delicious mix of playful, unapologetic, dark, punchy and (most importantly) very funny stand-up. Our main aim is to make sure our audiences have a top night out. Line-ups are booked purely on merit (ie. how funny each act is), with an emphasis on making sure there’s a variety of comedic styles for you to enjoy throughout the show. A spoonful of observational, a sprinkling of one-liners, a pinch of musical, a dollop of the daft… you get the picture. With all the crap going on in the world, Getaway Comedy is an opportunity to escape to laughter for a couple of hours.
Getaway Comedy have been putting on shows for over a decade (previously under the banner of The Stand-Up Club), and have built up a reputation as one of the best run and funniest comedy clubs in the UK.
