Peter Brush

Peter Brush is quite simply one of the finest comedy writers in the UK. A highly distinctive performer he unassumingly takes the stage with his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion.

Peter has been a finalist in a variety of local and national comedy competitions including the BBC New Comedy Award 2013, as well as winning the Harrogate Comedian of the Year 2012. He has also written for BBC Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’, ‘The Show What You Wrote’ and ‘Newsjack’, and has been tour support for Arthur Smith, Justin Moorhouse, Stephen K Amos, Ellie Taylor and Jamali Maddix.

‘compellingly hilarious.. first-class gag writing… an original and achingly funny voice’ 4.5 stars – Chortle, Aug 2015

‘unique observations and connections that stand-ups crave’ – The Guardian

About Getaway Comedy
It’s all about the laughs at Getaway Comedy. Expect a delicious mix of playful, unapologetic, dark, punchy and (most importantly) very funny stand-up. Our main aim is to make sure our audiences have a top night out. Line-ups are booked purely on merit (ie. how funny each act is), with an emphasis on making sure there’s a variety of comedic styles for you to enjoy throughout the show. A spoonful of observational, a sprinkling of one-liners, a pinch of musical, a dollop of the daft… you get the picture. With all the crap going on in the world, Getaway Comedy is an opportunity to escape to laughter for a couple of hours.

Getaway Comedy have been putting on shows for over a decade (previously under the banner of The Stand-Up Club), and have built up a reputation as one of the best run and funniest comedy clubs in the UK. We also founded and run the £10,001 British Comedian of the Year competition, with the biggest cash prize in British comedy. With venues across London and the South, check out the nearest venue to you on our Venues Page.
